An interview with Jodi Massengale

About Jodi

Jodi was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. As part of a large extended family whose roots can be traced to Louisiana, she grew up taking summer trips back to New Orleans to visit relatives. One of these trips included a big family reunion in St. Landry Parish. These memories ignited a passion for Louisiana and Creole Culture that eventually led her to cross paths with Janet Colson and Tracey Colson Antee. Jodi is interested in learning more and envisions herself relocating to The Boot sooner rather than later. Follow her on Instagram and Twitter @jodisjoy and on Facebook at Jodi Massengale.

This episode

I met Jodi through social media almost ten years ago and while most of our friendship has existed through texts and phone calls, she is one of my closest friends. She knows my soul better than most.

Jodi talks about her incredible family in the most authentic and open way. She comes from a large family that come from large families and she is blessed with tons of cousins, aunts and uncles. She shares stories of her grandparents and great-grandparents and how her love for Louisiana was born.

We talk about intention and culture and how they intertwine themselves with each other. She also talks about how faith, food, family and fun define Creole culture and in what ways. We talk about her quickly becoming infamous tea parties and her Oprah moment.

This is a great interview but even more so was an excuse to have my friend share her journey with you. Her stories will export you there and in the moment as she is a wonderful storyteller. I hope you enjoyed this episode and I look forward to having her on again.
