Goals for 2021!

Wow! Can you believe it, we finally made it to 2021. Didn’t 2020 seem like the longest and most painful year ever? I’m looking forward to the grace that I hope this year brings to us and working on my goals for 2021!

I wrote about goal setting in my last blog post and wanted to share with you the goals that I came up with for 2021. This is making me be extra vulnerable to share something that I usually keep private and close to me. But it’s time for me to open up and share some more of my story in the hopes that it will impact someone in a positive way.

Sharing this also makes me accountable to you. So feel free to call me out and say “um, excuse me, I need a status update friend!” Accountability, commitment and discipline are what I use to work my goals.

Accountability can be with your partner, your best friend or like I’m doing by sharing with you. Commitment, you can’t decide you want something and not commit to it. You have to stay honest with yourself to get things done. Discipline, oh it’s such an ugly word sometimes, as you know I’m a master procrastinator so being disciplined is often harder than actually achieving my goals. It’s so easy to say I’ll do that tomorrow, I can have just this one doughnut, it’s okay if I speak a week of writing. It’s not okay, it really isn’t. So give yourself all the tools and resources you need to be successful.

So here are my goals for 2021!

Goal 1: Lose 65 pounds

Yep I said it, I need to lose a whole lot of weight. I have just completely lost my mind and slowly put on quite a bit of weight in the past few years. I don’t want to lose weight for any type of vanity reasons, I have to. With obesity playing a huge role in complications from COVID-19, my Fibromyalgia diagnosis and chronic back pain, losing weight and getting more active is a necessity and not something I can continue to ignore.

Goal 2: Get my Life Coach Certification

Well that’s something that’s extra hard to say out loud. Whew! I’ve been working towards becoming a life coach and have coached several people in the past couple of years. It is one of my biggest dreams and I’m going through the process to become certified right now. Why in the world am I doing this? I honestly just want to help other people succeed and understand that is never too late to start something, go for your dream, and do big scary things….like this.

Goal 3: Morning Practice Everyday

I am pretty inconsistent with my daily morning practice. Sometimes I do it all, sometimes I do some of it, sometimes I lay in bed and scroll on Facebook for an hour. All of that has to stop. So I’m committing to my 5am wake up and MOVE and do my morning practice. I’m up at 5am and work out for thirty minutes, meditate for twenty minutes, do my gratitude practice and journal to start my day. I picked up a simple daily gratitude/journal that gives you sections to journal both in the morning and at night. The days I do this, are literally amazing, the days I don’t do this are much less amazing. This is also going to help me achieve goal number one to lose weight. Laziness is why I have not yet made this a habit and I hope to change that this year. Waking up at 4:45 or 5am is easy for me, getting in motion…not so much.

Goal 4: Finish Elite Blog Academy

I have been working on Ruth Soukoup incredible Elite Blog Academy forever. Friends, I’ve been working on this FOREVER. I refuse to let it beat me as it is a top class course to get you started on your new blog. Registration is only open once per year and I jumped on it a few years ago and I’m still not done. Please reference my relationship with discipline above. But I’m making huge strides right now and I can already see the payoff.

Goal 5: Pay Off Debt

Ok friend, so this is a carry over goal. I paid off a ton, TON of debt in 2020. Mainly because I didn’t go anywhere to spend any money and doubled up on payments to get things paid off. I have a plan (Dave Ramsey-ish) to have 85% of my debt paid off my the end of the year and I’ll definitely get this one done.

Goal 6: Redo Master Bath

You may or may not know that the hubs and I are professional DIYers. I 100% hit the jackpot in the husband category as he can do just about anything. So we are going to do a little spruce up in our master bath on a budget. I’ll take you along with me on this journey to see the little (and cheap) changes we make and how we do them. No moving of plumbing involved. I don’t have that kind of energy in my life right now.

Goal 7: Time Block Each Day

What the hell am I talking about? Time Blocking is amazeballs. Basically you get your whole list of things to do and block out time in your planner, notebook or calendar to do that task. So you’re taking an action item from your goals and blocking out time to get it done. You can read The One Thing to find out more about time blocking and how important it is to protect your time. I use a Time Cube Plus timer so that when it goes off I can take a break, check social media, check my email etc. Richie got me one for Christmas and it has been a game changer.

Goal 8: Write the Book

I’ve only been talking about writing a book for about ten years so after the shit show of 2020. I decided that the time is now and to quit putting it off. I’m going to tell my story, the wonderful parts and the really ugly parts. But it’s time. I’ll keep you posted on how that’s going.

Goal 9: Grow my Email List

I need followers just like you to get this thing rolling so I can provide more content, more time and more value to you. I will be rolling out a freebie in the next couple of months and will be doing some t-shirt giveaways monthly. Stay tuned!

Goal 10: Go on Vacation

Sounds kinda pitiful but bruh…I really need a vacation. A real vacation. We are planning something for June depending on what COVID is looking like at that time. Our goal is to get a RV by the end of March so we can start doing some SAFE weekend getaways and start exploring. I need a break and you probably need one too so we will be researching how to safely go on vacation and what that looks like.

Those are my goals for 2021! I’m looking forward to this year and getting to work on these. They cover all different the areas of my life; health, money, work, relationships, fun and personal development. I hope this helps you in figuring out your goals for this year and the direction you want to go in the New Year!
